Umarex Makarov CO2 BB Pistol

The Umarex Makarov BB pistol is designed after the original Russian Makarov 9mm semi-auto centerfire pistol.
It features a full metal construction with the exception of the grips.  The metal slide does move but it is not a blowback feature. Weight and size is almost identical to the original model.

The Makarov is powered by a single 12gram CO2 cylinder which is inserted in the handle when you slide the single piece grip back.  A 18-shot BB magazine is released from the bottom of the pistol. Extra magazines are currently not available through the manufacturer.

The manual safety is located on the left side and is designed for right handed shooters. The pistol also operates in single and double action, although the difference in the trigger pull is not very noticeable.
Simple, not highlighted markings on both sides of the Makarov add to the realistic look it portrays and the bright shiny bluing gives it a great finish.

Velocity is rated at 380 ft/sec giving it some decent numbers when plinking. Similar to most smoothbore BB pistols, accuracy was not bad but the fixed front and rear sights do not provide any benefit. I still find firing with both eyes opened allowed for better aim when you can gauge the flight path of the BB's.

Packaging of the Marakov was a nice surprise as it was a full coloured box with lots of detail and information. Typically we see the inexpensive clampacks on most inexpensive airguns.

The Makarov is a solid looking and feeling air pistol that is a nice addition to any collection especially with the Soviet background that real 9mm has.
